SERC News
Dear Sustainable Building Colleague,
Just in case you missed it, on October 31 and November 1 over 700 architects, engineers, building owners, developers and building professionals gathered at the 2nd annual Toronto Regional Green Building Festival.
In the elegant surroundings of the Glenn Gould Studio at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in Toronto, delegates were treated to compelling presentations by Dr. Ray Cole of the University of British Columbia, Peter Love, Ontario's Chief Conservation Officer and Bruce Kuwabara, 2006 RAIC Gold Medal Recipient discussing the landmark Manitoba Hyrdo building. Ajon Moriyama of Moriyama + Teshima Architects served as a capable master of ceremonies, inviting attendees during his opening remarks to consider how design has improved their lives over the course of the two-day event.
Complimenting the educational sessions, many of which were eligible for OAA Directed credits, was the dynamic trade show on November 1. Situated in the Barbara Frum Atrium of the CBC, the trade show featured a host of products and services designed to transform the market to new standards of energy efficiency, health and productivity. After only its second year, the Festival has clearly established itself as the definitive green building event in the Ontario region.
This year's Festival was sponsored and endorsed by many organizations who contributed to its success. Too numerous to name in their entirety, we would like to make special mention of our Gold Sponsors: Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and repeat Gold Sponsors, the Cement Association of Canada and Enbridge Gas Distribution.
Mark your calendars now for October 2007.
